State of the Union 2019 curiously missing “MAGA”

SABOTAGE wrapped in Subterfuge worth less than the price of paper, teleprompter space, or computer file

This is a speech filled with an arrogant contempt for world nations and a dangerous ignorance of the contemporary world. It is no more than a screed, an insulting screed, filled with puff, padding, nostalgia, platitudes, and gaping omissions.

This is some of what I found and didn’t find.

PEACE
Peace three times and in the context of war or aggression and never mentioning the United States' global, unending missions of aggression.

This nonsensical throwaway:
“If there is going to be peace and legislation, there cannot be war and investigation.  It just doesn’t work that way!”
(This president hasn’t clue what works how in U.S. public service.)
North Korea:
“If I had not been elected President of the United States, we would right now, in my opinion, be in a major war with North Korea with potentially millions of people killed.”
(RICH! And untrue.)
Afghanistan promise
“to reduce our troop presence and focus on counter-terrorism”
(For years the U.S. has gone to war on the pretext of fighting “terrorism,” often claiming to fight the very “terrorists” that the U.S. was simultaneously aiding and arming.)

P

eace words negated by war words; preparation for endless wars allied with a war industrial economy.
“Over the last 2 years, we have begun to fully rebuild the United States Military — with $700 billion last year and $716 billion this year. We are also getting other nations to pay their fair share. For years, the United States was being treated very unfairly by NATO — but now we have secured a $100 billion increase in defense spending from NATO allies.”
The U.S. President shows utter contempt for or a dangerous ignorance of world nations: 192 nations hold membership in the great assembly of the United Nations. His failure to mention the United Nations in his State of the Union speech shows an arrogant dismissal of international cooperation just as he has shown in withdrawing from and violating vital international treaties, conventions, declarations and agreements.

ountries cast in untruths and threats

  • Syria 2
Untruth: “When I took office, ISIS controlled more than 20,000 square miles in Iraq and Syria. Today, we have liberated virtually all of that territory from the grip of these bloodthirsty killers.

Promise of continuing war: “Now, as we work with our allies to destroy the remnants of ISIS, it is time to give our brave warriors in Syria a warm welcome.”
  • Iran - continued slander and contempt:
“My Administration has acted decisively to confront the world’s leading state sponsor of terror: the radical regime in Iran.”

“To ensure this corrupt dictatorship never acquires nuclear weapons, I withdrew the United States from the disastrous Iran nuclear deal. And last fall, we put in place the toughest sanctions ever imposed on a country.”
  • Saudi Arabia (U.S. ally and true dictator and blatant human rights abuser) 0
  • Venezuela - continued slander, promoting overthrow of democratically elected government, contempt:
“We stand with the Venezuelan people in their noble quest for freedom — and we condemn the brutality of the Maduro regime, whose socialist policies have turned that nation from being the wealthiest in South America into a state of abject poverty and despair.”

No mention of repeated U.S. economic sanctions and interference as key contribution to Venezuelans'  poverty and unrest.

C

ooperation couched in empty words contradicted in every other word
  • “But we must reject the politics of revenge, resistance, and retribution — and embrace the boundless potential of cooperation, compromise, and the common good.”
Platitudes, emotionalism, demands, blame
  • “This new era of cooperation can start with finally confirming the more than 300 highly qualified nominees who are still stuck in the Senate – some after years of waiting.  The Senate has failed to act on these nominations, which is unfair to the nominees and to our country.”
Outrageous Nostalgia, Falsehoods, Emotionalism
  • “Together, we represent the most extraordinary Nation in all of history.”
  •  “This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty and memory that link us together as citizens, as neighbors, as patriots.”
  • “No matter the trials we face, no matter the challenges to come, we must go forward together.”
  • “Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future. The decision is ours to make.
  • “… Walls work and walls save lives. So let’s work together, compromise, and reach a deal that will truly make America safe.”
In the face of an Over-drugged and over-dosing country, there's no word of prevention or cure or scientific research and discovery, or even alternative lifestyle
  • “It is unacceptable that Americans pay vastly more than people in other countries for the exact same drugs, often made in the exact same place. This is wrong, unfair, and together we can stop it.”
  • “Let us work together to build a culture that cherishes innocent life. And let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children — born and unborn — are made in the holy image of God.”
RICH! Why are U.S. leaders ordering the deaths and maiming of women, men and children daily across the world if they value and can preach to others about “cherishing” “innocent” “life”?

D

omestic needs mentioned destructively or never
  • American education omitted except once in the context of privatization, destruction of public schooling and promotion of charters (The president wants “To help support working parents, the time has come to pass school choice for America’s children.”) no doubt to appease his charter-school investor heading the U.S. Education Department.
  • Workers only in context of anti immigrants

F

orward from here – the Future
Wrapped in platitudes, emotionalism, nothing concrete
  • “Together, we can break decades of political stalemate. We can bridge old divisions, heal old wounds, build new coalitions, forge new solutions, and unlock the extraordinary promise of America’s future. The decision is ours to make.”
  • “I know that the Congress is eager to pass an infrastructure bill — and I am eager to work with you on legislation to deliver new and important infrastructure investment, including investments in the cutting edge industries of the future. This is not an option. This is a necessity.
  • This is the time to re-ignite the American imagination. This is the time to search for the tallest summit, and set our sights on the brightest star. This is the time to rekindle the bonds of love and loyalty and memory that link us together as citizens, as neighbors, as patriots. This is our future — our fate — and our choice to make. I am asking you to choose greatness.

In roughly 27 usages of the word new,” the president mentions nothing new.

I

nterestingly, there is no mention of “MAGA” or “Make America Great Again.”

I suppose His Excellency feels his MAGA mission has been accomplished. His mission accomplished words bear repeating:
“We represent the most extraordinary Nation in all of history.”
Almost makes you want to cry. No wonder he had no plans for the future. He believes this is it—the end all and be all.

He may even believe “he is ‘it.’”
