Boeing’s 737 series of jet airliners accidents reach from 1970s – March 2019: 
  • July 19, 1970 (737-200 damaged beyond repair on aborted takeoff); 
  • FIRST FATAL ACCIDENT December 8, 1972 (United Airlines Flight 553 crashed attempting to land – fatalities: 45 - 43 onboard, 2 on ground); 
  • October 29, 2018 largest loss of life (737 MAX 8, Lion Air Flight 610, Jakarta, Indonesia, to Pangkal Pinang, Indonesia, crashes into Java Sea 13 minutes after takeoff) - fatalities 189: 181 passengers (178 adults, three children), six cabin crew, two pilots. 
  • March 10, 2019 (737 MAX 8, Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, to Nairobi, Kenya, crashes 6 minutes after takeoff – fatalities: 157: 149 passengers, 8 crew members [FAA claimed “no basis” for grounding the Boeing aircraft.]

● November 22, 2015: a Boeing 737-300, Avia Traffic Company Flight 768 hard touchdown, aircraft skids off runway, left engine torn from mounting, all landing gear ripped off (Osh Airport) – eight injured
● August 5, 2016: Boeing 737-400, ASL Airlines Hungary flight QY-7332, overruns runway, breaks through airport perimeter fence, a parking lot, a guardrail and stops on a road 520 meters past the end of the runway; substantial aircraft damage, both engines, all landing gear legs lost; crew caption injured.
● March 28, 2017: Boeing 737-300, Peruvian Airlines Flight 112 Jorge Chávez International to Francisco Carle Airport, Jauja, undercarriage fails, forcing landing, aircraft catches fire and is declared total loss; 138 passengers and crew evacuated; 39 to hospital.

  • March 19, 2016: Boeing 737-800 Flydubai Flight 981, Dubai, UAE to Rostov-on-Don, Russia, crashes on the final approach – fatalities: 62.
  • April 4, 2016: Boeing 737-800 Batik Air Flight 7703, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport, Jakarta, Indonesia during takeoff left wing tip strikes vertical tail and left wing of another craft, left wing tank ruptures open and both aircraft catch fire; slides used to evacuate passengers.
  • September 1, 2018: Boeing 737-800 Utair Flight 579 from Vnukovo International Airport to Sochi International Airport, while landing aircraft overruns runway, catches fire; injured: 18.
  • September 28, 2018: Boeing 737-800 Air Niugini Flight 73, Pohnpei, Federated States of Micronesia, to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, aircraft overshoots runway, lands and sinks in a lagoon; not rescued: one passenger.
