One Crisis After Another

Why We are Where We are

Americans are a people who by and large embrace triviality, pageantry, personality, partisanship and longevity thus feeding corruption, cronyism, nepotism, regression, degradation, often perversion and predation, and core breakdown and ultimate destruction.

A

mericans have lazily, carelessly, even arrogantly and vehemently refused to work together to demand —
(a) that contenders have critical competence, qualifications, demonstrated knowledge and experience substantively pertinent to a particular elective office or administrative position;
(b) that holders of office meet these requirements and also hold the office for a limited period (for the legislature no more than three terms, for the executive no more than two terms, and the judiciary no more than ten years).
Because of the public’s failure to demand rigor, demonstrated moral and ethical standing, proper emotional temperament, we have come to today’s crisis—and a pattern of one after another crisis in domestic and foreign affairs.

T

he United States is broken.
Its systems are broken systems.
Its body politic is severely weakened, intellectually inept, and too distracted to bother to fix essential systems in every sector of government and public service.

So we are where we are today.
We have a dangerously incompetent and unfit Executive.
We have lazy, self-centered, beholden-to-special-interests incompetents, and unfit lifers holding seats in both Houses of Congress.
We have partisan-appointed lifers holding seats in the Judiciary branch of government.
All around this decay are media institutions and entities (also aligned with and/or beholden to special interests) that
  • Fail to do due diligence
  • Fail to report honestly in the public interest
  • Daily play to (beat the band, call the game of) one or another faction, and
  • In a 24/7 barrage keep up an accompaniment to an endless circus and unending crises.
