Those who stand for nothing will fall for anything.” Who said that? Perhaps a 1920s preacher. Nobody knows. But it is a good line.
Without proper, mandatory (applied
and enforced) standards among its people, a country (i.e., the USA) will continue in a downward
spiral.
A high-profile CASE, again, in the news serves as solid evidence of the deeply troubling inadequacy and the terrible consequences of a nation, the US of exceptionalism A, with NO substantive, pertinent prerequisites, no proper standards, and no mandatory requirements for a person to stand for or be elected to public office.

ehold the coming of another “Obamaite,” “HR Clintonite,” “Trumpster.”
This
Schenectady, New York-born Ivy League-lawyering millionaire of Tai parents
makes a lucrative income as a dabbler and venture capitalist evading taxes by doing
business as a “nonprofit”— and presenting himself as a candidate: first, for
the U.S. presidency; then for the mayoralty of one of the largest, most complex,
most problem-ridden cities in the world (2018 UN estimated population 18,819,000;
most populous city in the USA 2019: City population 8,398,748; Metro pop. 19,303,808; Urban pop. 20,870,000).
Andrew M. Yang in November 2017 filed with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) to run for the office of U.S. President. In February 2020, he dropped out and climbed aboard the Cable News Network (CNN) commentary platform. On January 13, 2021, Yang declared (via Twitter, YouTube, etc.) his candidacy for the New York City mayoral primary scheduled for June 22, 2021.
This man from Schenectady presumes to stand (and to be elected) — with ABSOLUTELY NO
prior pertinent experience, training, education, or
natural, demonstrated knowledge or ability pertinent to and essential for effective leadership and competent service or performance at any level of public office!
His calling card — a promise to hand out cash (public money) to the masses, paid joblessness
- to further the breakdown of society
- to further reduce the mental and intellectual quality, industriousness, and creation of the masses
- to further weaken the body politic, rendering the masses pliable, manipulatable; and susceptible, by default, to voting for the likes of him: another identity- politicking second coming of an Obama resetting deplorable Clinton (HR) Making AGA Trumpster.

ill Americans ever stand and demand mandatory standards; demonstrated,
substantively qualified and morally fit candidates for public office?
Those who choose personality and varieties of identity (trivial, tribal) politics (or “lesser” “evils”) are choosing to disavow the absolute necessity of proper standards as determinants of candidacy and caliber of public office, public service and servant. They are disregarding the essentiality of scrutiny, the application of critical judgment in determining fitness for purpose.
They are sacrificing the citizenry — the body politic, the “we the people”— of, for, and by whom government exists. They are falling prey to the ferocious appetite of the narcissist and charlatan.

NEW YORK (AP) — Former presidential candidate Andrew Yang officially entered the race for mayor of New York City on Thursday, joining a crowded Democratic primary field that includes longtime elected officials and veterans of the administration of Mayor Bill de Blasio, who is barred by the city charter from seeking a third term.
“‘It is here in New York City that my passion for uplifting people, for wanting to move our country forward, got started,” Yang said at a campaign launch that was streamed on YouTube because of the coronavirus pandemic. “And now that we are facing this historic crisis, I am aiming to unleash and channel that energy for a human-centered economy right here in New York, my home!’”
