president, and child playing with his Tweeting toy.

Dr. Angela
Dorothea Merkel is an experienced professional, a seasoned and learned politician
described throughout the world “as the de facto leader of the European Union,
the most powerful woman in the world, and the leader of the Free World.” She was
born in Hamburg (then-West Germany) and, as a young child, moved to East
Germany (and grew up there) when her father, a Lutheran clergyman, “received a
pastorate in Perleberg.” Chancellor Merkel’s credentials include a doctorate in
quantum chemistry and work as a research scientist before entering public service
politics in 1990. She has served long and well. Her credentials sheet is long
and substantive.
The Chancellor's bone fides exceed most if not all of the worlds’
leaders and heads of state.
Mr. Trump has comparatively nothing qualifying him
for the position he holds: no earned credentials in the areas of public service
experience, no political government leadership experience. One would therefore
expect him to show a little humility; to sit quietly and learn from those who know
history, know statecraft, know what they are doing, and have most definitely earned the leadership
positions they hold and the world’s respect they have achieved.

Though Germany is “used” to and is
able to “cope” with the U.S. president’s barbs, I’d like to see the businessman
Donald Trump not only look at the balance sheet; but look at the output. She cites Germany’s troop contribution to NATO as “the second-highest” and the “second-largest
net contributor.”
Born and
raised in Brussels, Belgium and entering local political service at the turn of
the 21st century, Dr. Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen is a physician who in federal
public office politics has served as the Federal Minister of Labour and Social
Affairs (2009-2013) and Federal Minister of Senior Citizens, Women and Youth (2005-2009). She currently serves in Chancellor Merkel’s cabinet as Germany’s Minister of Defense.
Ursula Gertrud von der Leyen is a graduate of University of Göttingen, University of Münster, London
School of Economics, and Hannover Medical School.
