rett Michael Kavanaugh took an Ivy League law degree at the
alma mater of George W. Bush, Hillary Rodham and William Jefferson Clinton, current
U.S. Supreme Court Justices Samuel Alito, Sonia Sotomayor and Clarence Thomas.
He
clerked for Judge Walter King Stapleton (United States Court of Appeals for the
Third Circuit), Judge Alex Kozinski (United States Court of Appeals for the
Ninth Circuit), and Justice Anthony Kennedy (U.S. Supreme Court).
In between,
he took a fellowship with the office of U.S. Solicitor General Ken Starr and was involved
“in drafting the Starr Report” urging “impeachment” of former U.S. President Bill
Clinton; and involved in the “investigation into the suicide” of former U.S.
President Bill Clinton’s aide, Vince Foster.
Judge Kavanaugh’s dissents at court have involved Consumer
Financial Protection Bureau, the Office of Refugee Resettlement in a case
of abortion allowed to a detained unaccompanied minor, the Patient Protection
and Affordable Care Act (ACA), the Free Speech Clause and government’s requirement
of product labeling with country of origin, and EPA’s greenhouse gas emissions regulations.
His concurring opinions have involved “Free Speech Clause”
and government’s requiring product labeling with country of origin, terrorism
cases in which a person could be convicted by a military commission even if the
offenses were “not internationally recognized as war crimes under the law of
war;” and dismissal of “a claim by an American that he had been disappeared by
the FBI in a Kenyan black site.”

avanaugh took his baccalaureate and law degrees (BA, JD) at Yale
University and today is a judge on the United States Court of Appeals for the
District of Columbia Circuit (confirmed May 2006).
On July 9, 2018, U.S. President Donald Trump nominated Brett
Michael Kavanaugh, subject to
Senate confirmation, to assume the Associate Justice position left by the
retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court of the United States.
