Now, if citizens and politicians can just rein in their egos and “ancestry”; put those aside and begin bridging divides instead of creating chasms. Engaging nonviolently, working diligently to bring peace to the world through nonviolence and diplomacy in words. Bring peace through nonviolence to America’s temples and streets, its chambers, halls, campaign stumps and other arenas where politicians meet.

End the distraction of acrimony and aggression among people, country leaders, and politicians, personalities employed by media organizations at home and abroad.

A
ttend to the series business of studiously addressing basic people-problems (health, homelessness, human relations), and societal issues. Improve competence, qualification, and ethical character in elected officials and appointees. Uproot entrenchment and corruption (the revolving door, the buying and selling of public office as of trades in drugs, weapons in endless war).

Perhaps these new federal legislators and New England governor—instead of focusing on superficial trends in pageantry, bookmaker elections odds, personality worship and tribal pandering — will assist in turning the tide of governance: bringing seriously reflective thought, actual civil debate and deliberation, sleeves-rolled-up-sweating diligence to crafting solutions, solving problems, and meeting urgent needs.
